Welcome to the MoDSE Lab (Achinivu Lab) at UIC!
The MoDSE lab (Achinivu lab) is an interdisciplinary research group focused on translating fundamental research in molecular engineering, towards sustainable bioproducts. We are located in the Department of Chemical engineering at the University of Illinois Chicago.
Research Statement:
We are focused on promoting the sustainability of a new generation of bioproducts that are derived from renewable resources (with a focus on waste resources). These goals and strategies leverage our knowledge in Green Chemistry, Molecular Engineering, and Bioprocess Engineering towards the development of “Sustainable Bioproducts”.
Diversity Statement:
We are dedicated to fostering a group culture that emphasizes respect, diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. We believe that diversity promotes creativity and innovation, which in turn will allow us to generate new research methods, explanations, and ideas that can tackle our various societal challenges. Therefore, we welcome and encourage diverse viewpoints and perspectives and an atmosphere of free and open scientific inquiry.
Education And Training Statement:
We are committed to providing training and professional mentorship opportunities for students at all levels (including postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, undergraduates, and high school students). Trainees will leave the group with the skills needed to take on the relevant challenges in sustainable engineering (as it relates to molecular science and chemical engineering).
